The Media Center Integrator Alliance (MCIA), together with Microsoft, announced the winner of the 2009 Windows Media Center Ultimate Install Contest. The residential custom integration firm, Vision Audio in Lubbock, Texas, built an impressive system with Windows Media Center at the core of the entertainment experience in an extensive whole-home installation. The installation has been a 4-year project for Vision Audio’s General Manager Dustin Anderson and his team. Seamlessly integrating six Windows Media Center servers, one Windows Home Server, five dedicated theater-style rooms, 12 media racks, 98 speakers, and 30 zones of distributed audio; the Lubbock, Texas home includes products from key MCIA member companies such as Autonomic Controls, Crestron and Niveus Media.
At CEDIA, MCIA is also celebrating its one year anniversary. The organization is making several announcements this year, including additions to their training programs. CEDIA University and MCIA will be working together to incorporate the Media Center training series into the organization’s e-Learning offerings which are available in instructor-led and on-demand formats. Moving forward, MCIA members and integrators will also be able to access Media Center training modules on the MCIA website, giving members another access point to get the training and education tools they need.
The organization has also announced an update to their popular Digital Cable Tuner Diagnostic Tool. The application gathers information from the tuner(s) that are displayed in an easy-to-use interface for troubleshooting issues. Scan results can be imported and exported from the tool to make sharing diagnostic information easier. The Digital Cable Tuner Diagnostic Tool v.2 offers integrators improved support for all CableCARD types across firmware versions, as well as added support for Harmonic and Scientific Atlanta S CableCARDs.
