Coming off CEDIA is always a busy time at Caster. With ten clients on the floor, prepping for the show is hard enough, but coming back everyone wants their show reports. The line up of press stories they had is what keeps our clients smiling and keep us slammed through Columbus Day. If you estimate seven clients with two news releases each multiplied times 50 top tier news outlets covering the show, we captured over 500 news articles.
These are some of my favorites this year:
1. Paradigm: CEPro’s Julie Jacobson’s recap of her Toronto trip and blind listening of the new SE speakers attained a lot of buzz. Steven Kim at Engadget sure appreciated the story and supplied his take, the comments are especially titillating
2. Control4: With back to back shows, news from Control4 spanned the energy and utility space and its core business in home automation. Smart Grid News offered this take Texas Utility Choses Control4 for HAN Control and Energy Management while Stewart Wolpin wrote this on the new EMS 100 system for DVICE. Janet Pinkerton’s take on how the Smart Grid is going to impact CE retail and custom installers was a hit over at Dealerscope.
4. OmniMount had a powerhouse of a show as furniture and TV Mounting Options Continue To Expand and with lots of sightings of their OmniLite Series, New Classic Series and Modena Series, and a huge volume of hourly giveaways posted through their Twitter site.
At CEDIA, OmniMount unveiled several exciting new products, including new flat panel TV mounts and furniture. Erick Valkingburg was kind enough to take us on a tour of the OmniMount booth last week.
OmniMount is making a huge splash at CEDIA this year. The company has a full lineup of new product announcements as well as some great social media initiatives, and a Power40-a-day Giveaway!
What’s New at CEDIA?
New Mounts!
OmniLite Series adds cantilever – OmniMount continues to bring eco-conscious solutions to its installers with the expansion of the OmniLite Series. The line now includes two cantilever mounts, and provides installers with innovative solutions that are easy to use and environmentally responsible.
New Classic Series – OmniMount’s New Classic Series line of fixed, tilt and cantilever mounts provide installers a new design and improved functionality that offer perfect, smooth movement from the first time you take the product out of the box through every day use.
New Furniture!
Element Line – The all-in-one design of the new line, part of OmniMount’s Core Collection, quite simply reinvents the category of A/V furniture, providing a twist on traditional steel and glass modeled furniture that have traditionally populated the industry.
Morello Series – The Morello Series includes two audio/video media stands and one combination flat panel floor stand that delivers an elegant touch to any media room and bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary audio/video furnishings.
New Accessories!
OmniMount’s Essentials includes complete solutions for a host of A/V needs, including screen and furniture cleaners, cable management, surge protectors and a cable safety kit – the perfect compliment for all A/V equipment

OmniMount has further expanded its line of eco-conscious mounting solutions, with the addition of cantilever solutions to the OmniLite Series.
The OL50C fits most flat panels from 13 to 32 inches and support up to 50 pounds, while the OL125C fits most flat panels from 23 to 45 inches and support up to 125 pounds. Both single-stud mounts pan, swivel and tilt (-5 to +15 degrees) for maximum viewing flexibility and feature OmniMount’s signature cable management solution and Lift n’ Lock™ technology to enable quick and easy installations for installers.
The OmniLite Series OL50C and OL125C will greatly reduce waste by featuring condensed packaging and streamlined hardware kits. Additionally, manuals and installation templates for each product will be printed on the inside of the box eliminating the need for unnecessary paper. The OmniLite Series will also utilize 100-percent recyclable internal packaging with no plastic bags, post-consumer recyclable outer box material and non-petroleum-based ink for all package printing.
The OL50C and OL125C have MSRPs of $59.95 and $149.95, respectively, and are available now.
OmniMount, a client who specializes in mount and furniture solutions for audio/video products, recently launched a new product – THE omnimount. Unlike the company’s traditional product line that is sold, and in some cases installed, by custom installation professionals, the new omnimount targets DIY-ers. It has a low price point, is available at more mainstream retailers (think Costco and Radio Shack), and is basically fool-proof to install.
Sounds great, right?! Well, the product launched and when publications posted the story (great PR team – wink), suddenly there were a handful of doubters posting comments challenging the strength of the ingenious, small-footprint wall brackets. They would never trust a contraption this small to hold their TV, especially not in drywall! (Keep in mind that the versatile mounting system is designed for small 13-42″ flat panels and has a UL listing for 40-80 lbs TVs). Not sure if they are doubting the mount of their own DIY-ness here, but it did ”tarnish” the otherwise great PR coverage.
So, OmniMount developed a stress test video – The company has been making great strides integrating social media into their marketing and PR efforts over the past year and this video is just another example of how a picture (er, video) is worth a thousand (press release) words.
… Okay, so it may lack a bit in flourish and creativity, and kind of reminds me of a VH1 pop-up video from the 80’s, BUT it serves it purpose! The omnimount CLEARLY is strong enough to hold even the most obese of (13-42″) boob tubes. A great example of a company listening to its audience to address questions and concerns.
Check out the omnimount on OmniMount’s newly launched consumer website that now allows you (and these nay-sayers) to go right to the source and chat with an OmniMount service representative in real-time, among other user-friendly enhancements.
